A graduate of Carleton School of Architecture, Robert is a long standing registered architect in Alberta, currently based in Vancouver after having circled the Pacific working in Japan, Hong Kong, and San Francisco. His work varies in typology and scale from mixed use residential projects and single family homes to multi-disciplinary collaboration on stage with the dance world.
Robert’s design process is a wandering line of inquiry back and forth. Conceptual development, experimentation and sustainable methodologies combine to make new links to the urban fabric. Intimate and public juxtapositions develop an architecture of inclusiveness.
Beyond the obvious economic and environmental concerns, reusing shipping containers is a way of creating the new from the fabric of the old, reinforcing stories and giving the shelter a sense of continuity, a ready made history and response to Vancouver’s shipping context.
